Amherst scored 10 runs in the second inning and coasted to an easy 13-7 victory over Iola-Scandinavia in a CWC-East game on Monday, May 6. The loss drops the Thunderbirds conference record to 9-3 and their overall record to 10-7.
The Falcons outhit the T-Birds 17-7. Brylee Jueds had three of the seven hits for Iola-Scandinavia including a two-run double in the fourth inning.
Starting pitcher Julia Munoz pitched five innings in taking the loss. Munoz allowed two walks while striking out six batters. The T-Bird defense continues to struggle to make plays while committing three errors in the game. Rayanne Clendenning pitched the final two innings allowing no hits, one walk, and had one strikeout.
The junior varsity team lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood 13-12 on Monday, May 6. The JV record is 6-6 overall.
The varsity team is scheduled to travel to Shiocton for a conference game on Tuesday, May 7, while the junior varsity team will host Tri-County. Both games are set to start at 4:30 p.m.
