I-S Softball drops two games to Bonduel

The Iola-Scandinavia softball team lost two games to a very strong Bonduel team in a CWC-East match-up on Friday, May 2.

The Thunderbirds had one hit and struggled defensively, committing four errors, in dropping the first game, 9-0. In the second game, the T-Birds did take an early 1-0 lead, but Bonduel scored five runs in the middle innings and went on to a 5-2 win.

With the two losses, Iola-Scandinavia’s conference record drops to 3-5, and their overall record falls to 7-6.

Emma Printz was the only runner for the Thunderbirds to get on base in the first game when she singled in the sixth inning. In the second game, Printz led the T-Birds with two hits while Brylee Jueds, Maddie Karolus, Maya Munoz, and Ava Prints each had a single.

In the first game, pitcher Rayanne Clendenning pitched all seven innings in taking the loss. Clendenning allowed two walks and had 10 strikeouts. Clendenning started the second game and pitched the first four innings, allowing one walk and two strikeouts. Charlotte Isermann pitched the final two innings and had one walk and no strikeouts.

The varsity team will play at Amherst on Monday, May 5, in a conference game. The game will start at 5 p.m.
