I-S Softball drops game to Almond-Bancroft

Finishes regular season with 13-9 record

Ava Printz had two hits.

ALMOND – The Iola-Scandinavia varsity softball lost a non-conference game to Almond-Bancroft, 4-2, in their final regular season game on Thursday, May 16. The Thunderbirds finished their regular season with an overall record of 13-9.

The Thunderbirds spotted Almond-Bancroft one run in the first inning and three runs in the third inning. Iola-Scandinavia was held scoreless until the seventh inning when they scored two runs on four straight singles. The Thunderbirds ended the game with bases loaded.

Myah Heschke had a run-scoring single.

Ava Printz had two hits. Myah Heschke and Maya Munoz had run-scoring singles in the two-run seventh inning.

Pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance in taking the loss. Munoz allowed one walk and had six strikeouts. The T-Bird defense had no errors but struggled to make plays.

The junior varsity team will play their final games May 17 hosting Amherst in a doubleheader with the first game starting at 4:30 p.m.

Maya Munoz had a run-scoring single.

WIAA Softball Tournament Series

The WIAA softball tournament series is set to begin for Iola-Scandinavia as they will host a regional quarter-final game on Tuesday, May 21. Admission to a WIAA regional tournament game is $6 for students and adults. The Thunderbirds will play the winner of the Gillett/Suring at Shiocton game which will be played Friday, May 17.
