The Iola-Scandinavia varsity softball team – behind another strong pitching performance by Julia Munoz – beat Shiocton, 4-1 in a CWC-East game on Thursday, April 18. Munoz went the distance allowing four hits, and one walk while striking out 10 batters. The one run scored by Shiocton was an unearned run scored on a Thunderbird error.
The game was moved to Iola-Scandinavia because Shiocton’s field was unplayable due to the rain. The Thunderbirds improved their conference record to 6-0 and overall record to 7-2.
Julia Munoz helped herself out at the plate with two hits including a run-scoring double in the third inning. Ava Printz also had a run-scoring double in the third inning.
The junior varsity team lost to Hortonville, 12-2, on the road on Thursday, April 18. The loss drops the junior varsity record to 3-1.
The varsity team hosted Winneconne on Friday, April 19. The JV team played at Pacelli (at Woyak Field in Plover).
