The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Marion, 14-3, in a non-conference game at Marion on Thursday, April 10.
The T-Birds had a 4-1 lead after three innings but broke the close game open with a five-run fourth inning and added five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The game stopped after the sixth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Iola-Scandinavia edged Marion in the hit column, 9-8. The Thunderbirds had eight different batters to get a hit. Junior Natalie Schwirtz had two hits, including a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Katie Rosenthal and Braelyn Jueds drove in three and two runs, respectively.
Pitcher Charlotte Isermann pitched all six innings to earn the win for the T-Birds. Isermann allowed one walk while striking out six batters.

Nekoosa Game results

The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Nekoosa, 8-1, in a non-conference game at Iola on Friday, April 11. The Thunderbirds improved their overall record to 3-2.
After Nekoosa tied the game, 1-1 in the top of the third inning, the T-Birds scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning and added two more runs in the fourth inning for the final 8-1 score.
Pitcher Rayanne Clendenning went the distance to earn the win for the Thunderbirds. Clendenning allowed only four hits, had no walks while striking out 13 batters. The T-Birds’ defense committed three errors.
Iola-Scandinavia had 11 hits in the game. Ava Printz had three hits, while Brylee Jueds had two hits, including a two-run single in the third inning. Maya Munoz had two-run singles in the third and fourth innings.
The varsity team will travel to Weyauwega-Fremont for a conference game on Monday, April 14, starting at 4:30 p.m.
The junior varsity team also beat Nekoosa following the varsity game, 4-0. The junior varsity team has a 2-0 overall record.
