Wisconsin State Superintendent Jill Underly announced that Wisconsin school districts will not adhere to the April 3 order from the Department of Education (DOE) without further clarification.
The deadline has been extended to April 24 for compliance.
Chris Nelson, district administrator for Iola-Scandinavia School District, states that while he believes the district complies with the federal directive, they are consulting legal counsel on the issue.
The district receives about $81,000 in Title 1 money.
The State of Wisconsin receives about $216 million in Title 1 funds.
