The following report was presented at the Feb. 14 Iola-Scandinavia School District Board meeting.

Positives

Very low numbers of COVID cases in the district.

Projects

Strategic Plan

Staff Retention and Attraction – Changing sick day pay out for retired staff and early notification if you are leaving the district.

Mental Health and Social Emotional Learning – We have three new staff members working in the District. Frank Bellamia is our Mental Health Navigator. He is helping students and families connect with resources. Calan Stichman is our Family and Student Engagement Specialist. She is connecting families with a wide variety of resources that are available county wide. Michelle Hazuka is a Mental Health Therapist who is able to meet with students during the school day.

COVID-19 updates

Numbers are very low in our schools and in the county.

Bus Drivers

I have completed my written tests to become a bus driver. I know of at least one other person working on their license.
