The Iola-Scandinavia School District Board of Education will meet Monday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. in Elementary School Room #6 at 450 Division Street in Iola. The agenda will include approval of multiple student fundraiser requests, facility and budget updates, reports from administrators, and action on personnel recommendations.
Board members will begin with the consent agenda, which will include approval of past meeting minutes, financial reports, and auditing of checks. A series of student-led fundraisers will be considered, ranging from DECA’s annual food drive to the Junior Class’s Haunted Mill event. The high school softball team will seek approval for a Pizza Ranch fundraiser to support its 2026 spring training trip. Other fundraisers will include pie sales, muffin sales, and a chocolate bar campaign tied to the 2026 Europe Trip.
Gifts and donations will also be on the docket. The Iola Lions Club has contributed more than $3,000 in support, including $1,587 toward the Stuff the Bus campaign, $1,000 for auditorium improvements, and $500 for the Energy Bus Program.
District staff will present updates next. Pupil Services Director Kimberlisa Przychocki is scheduled to give a presentation, while reports will follow from the FAC director, principals, administrators, and a student representative. The FAC Director’s Report will highlight recent facility projects, including the installation of the leisure pool floor, gym floor completion, and upgrades to pool UV systems.
The board will also receive updates from recent Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) and CESA 5 meetings. Under old business, members will hear progress reports on ongoing referendum projects led by Hoffman.
Committee reports are set to cover building and grounds, finance, transportation, curriculum, policy, and negotiations. The Personnel and Nominations Committee will present one resignation and a recommendation to approve Caitlin Young as a middle school volunteer volleyball coach. The Finance Committee will deliver a budget update, with lay members Erikka Flowers and Mark Sether joining Chairperson Krogwold.
In new business, the board will consider a request for the boys’ basketball program to participate in the Wisconsin Yearbook Invitational, a 40-team tournament at Concordia University in Mequon on December 29–30. Approval will be sought to use two district vehicles and one staff member’s vehicle for transportation.
The meeting will conclude with a look ahead to upcoming sessions, including a working committee meeting on Oct. 6 and the district’s annual meeting and regular board meeting on Oct. 13, both scheduled at the Middle School/High School Auditorium.
