I-S Fitness and Aquatic Center February report

The Iola-Scandinavia Fitness & Aquatic Center

There is a Parent-Tot Swimming class in March and it is full with 20 total and we have had to turn some folks away.  Planning an April Swimming lesson session for our “younger aged” children since it is so popular and parents are asking for it.

This summer we will again offer our swimming lessons with the I-S Summer School program with the assistance of Mrs. Wester.

The Manawa School District has made plans to attend swimming lessons again this summer as part of their summer school. They come two days a week for three weeks.

ISRA basketball will wrap up in February. The ISRA softball and baseball teams have started signing up and begin the process of setting up for late spring. We also will have soccer again this spring.

The rental of the Mishler and Fraley rooms for pool parties continues to be very popular with weekend parties scheduled into late March.

The end of February swimming lessons will begin with the elementary school teachers 4-5-6 grades. Teachers have scheduled weeks of lessons during their open weeks of non-testing and availability. The classes get one full hour of swim instruction for an entire week.

A couple of new, small maintenance items worked on this month of February are the front drywall repair in the foyer area above the front doors. We are replacing the diving board base as it is rusted badly and is to be replaced. JIm is working with a local vendor to keep the cost minimal for this diving board work.

The water therapy, water aerobics and other class offerings are back up and running. These took a couple weeks off at the peak of the Covid outbreak to keep older members safer. ISFAC worked very closely with the school nurses for this and appreciate their assistance and recommendations.
