District Administrator Ray Przekurat

District Administrator Ray Przakurat presented the following report at the May 9 Iola-Scandinavia School District Board meeting.

Positives: Limited number of days before the end of the year. Students and staff looking at a normal end to the school year.

Strategic Plan: Staff Retention and Attraction – Increased starting wage to $40,000 and teachers received a 4.7% increase. Academic Expansion – Create more educational opportunities for students – Increased FVTC Dual Credit numbers and AP courses.

Cost Savings: Summer projects – Hand dryers in both buildings reduce paper towel costs; HS boiler controls regulate heating better; Water softener replacement means less repairs to equipment and they will run more efficiently.

Personal: Bus Driving – Completed my CDL on April 25 and drove my first trip on May 5.
