I-S Cross Country places four in Top 10 at Manawa meet

Iola-Scandinavia’s cross-country teams performed well at the Manawa Invitational on Sept. 10, with four runners earning Top 10 finishes. The meet at the Threshermen Grounds in Symco saw the boys’ varsity team finish second overall, while the girls’ varsity team took third.

Leading the boys’ varsity team was Ben Beck, who crossed the line in fourth place with a time of 19:06. Henry Vater and Jack Beck followed closely behind, tying for 8th and 9th place respectively, both clocking in at 19:39.2. Their collective efforts helped propel the team to a runner-up finish in the meet.

On the girls’ side, Cedarlyn Otremba led the I-S varsity team with a ninth-place finish, completing the course in 26:06.2. She was followed by Revyn Shrank, who took 12th place in 27:21.8, and Paige Timbal, who finished just behind Shrank in 13th with a time of 27:22.2. Ari Hahn rounded out the girls’ Top 15 finishes, coming in 15th at 27:29.4. Their performances contributed to the girls’ solid third-place team finish.

In the middle school race, John Mork placed 13th in 13:14.6, with teammate Parker Pohlman finishing 15th in 13:36.0.
