At the recent July 2 Town of Helvetia Board meeting held at the Town Hall, Chairman Jeff Oppor called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. with all board members present.
In new business, several updates on town projects were discussed.
A significant action taken by the board was the approval of compensation for Town Board member Justin Hintz, who has been boarding stray dogs within the town limits. In light of his efforts, the board felt it appropriate to offer remuneration. The board passed a motion made by Mike Grassl and seconded by Justin Hintz to compensate Hintz $50 per dog occurrence. This decision aims to recognize the time and resources dedicated by Hintz in ensuring the well-being of stray animals.
Swamp Road is currently under construction, and Lutz Road is undergoing shoulder repairs by Chad Bestul. The Town Hall parking lot will also see improvements soon, with Chad Bestul Excavating managing the tasks of patching, grading, gravel addition, and shouldering on various town roads.
Additionally, one round of grass mowing has been completed by Kelly Land, with brush cutting scheduled next. Oppor stated that he would reach out to the Waupaca County Highway Department to obtain a price for brush-cutting services this winter.
Other routine matters were also addressed, including the installation of a new thermostat and the erection of a new Town Hall sign by Mike Grassl. The board also discussed arrangements for contracting LP gas for the winter and the potential need for cleaning the Town Hall in July.
