Scandinavia is gearing up for a frightfully fun evening as Jorgens Park Preserve hosts the annual Halloween Spooktacular on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 3-6 p.m. Families from across the area will gather to enjoy a wide array of activities, including Trunk or Treat, hay wagon rides, a haunted barn experience, pumpkin catapulting, and Halloween-themed story readings. This event promises something for everyone, making it the perfect way to celebrate the spooky season with the whole family.
Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in the highly anticipated Trunk or Treat, where local community members will distribute treats to eager trick-or-treaters. Those seeking thrills will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Barn, while adventure-seekers can climb aboard the hay wagon for a scenic ride around the park.
Those interested in participating in Trunk or Treat can sign up their vehicle by contacting Sue Barlow at 715-467-2868.
For a bit of hands-on fun, guests can get into the Halloween spirit by decorating pumpkins, which will then be launched from a pumpkin catapult — a unique and entertaining highlight of the event. Additionally, there will be Halloween-themed story readings, ensuring younger attendees have plenty of seasonal entertainment.
Hungry visitors can warm up with chili and beverages available for purchase throughout the event. The proceeds from the chili sale will directly benefit the Jorgens Park Fund, helping with the park’s maintenance and future improvements.
Jorgens Park Preserve, located at 880 North Shore Drive, offers a beautiful 40-acre backdrop for the event, featuring walking trails, fishing piers, and scenic views of Silver Lake. Free parking will be available off State Highway 49.
The Halloween Spooktacular is made possible thanks to the combined efforts of the Friends of Jorgens Park Preserve, the Scandinavia Booster Club, Iola-Scandinavia Scout Troop 631, and the Scandinavia Public Library, with additional support from the Thrivent Action Team.
