State Sen. Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) presented her 17th Annual Joan Ballweg Leadership Scholarship to ten outstanding students across the 14th Senate District.
“These students exemplify the role of young leaders in our communities,” said Ballweg. “They all excel in academics and beyond and will continue to do great things as they go on to pursue their degrees.”
The recipients of the 2021 Joan Ballweg Leadership Scholarship will each receive a $500 scholarship. This year’s winners included:
Samantha Glad, Iola-Scandinavia High School, has exceled throughout her high school career as a four-sport athlete including volleyball, where this past season despite COVID-19, her team won the regional championship for the first time in 20 years. Additionally, Samantha worked and participated in student council, DECA and as a swim instructor at the local fitness and aquatic center. She will go on to pursue a degree in business at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
“Congratulations to each of this year’s recipients,” said Ballweg. “You’ve proven yourselves as young leaders and have made your parents and community proud. Your next challenge is to take what you’ve learned through high school and go forward, making Wisconsin a better place for us all.”
