IOLA TOWN BOARD: The Town of Iola Board will meet in the town hall on Monday, May 19. The board will discuss roads and bridges and approve the town’s books and checks.

VIKINGS BASEBALL: The BABA South Central begins baseball action on Sunday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. as the Scandinavia Vikings travel to New London for the opener.

LOKEN IN NEWS: Iola-Scandinavia’s Korz Loken, a four-star recruit, is still being eyed by the Wisconsin Badgers football program for the Class of 2027. Among the schools Badgers are competing with for his signature are the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Indiana Hoosiers, Illinois Fighting Illini, and Kansas Jayhawks. Read the story here.

RURAL WISCONSIN INTERNET: A years-long plan to provide reliable, affordable high-speed internet access to people in rural Wisconsin now faces delays in funding and administration. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick disagree on how the $42.4 billion program should move forward. Estimates are that more than 450,000 homes and businesses in rural areas alone are unserved, underserved or have no service at all. Read the story here.
