LUTEFISK DINNER VOLUNTEERS: The Iola Winter Carnival is looking for volunteers to help organize and run the Lutefisk dinner for 2025. If you are interested, please message us via our Facebook page to get put on our email list, or feel free to attend our next planning meeting on July 24 at 6 p.m. at the Iola Community Center! Please help us bring back this beloved tradition for next year’s Winter Carnival!

MEETING CHANGE: The Iola-Scandinavia Recreation Association moved its March meeting to March 13 at the Thirsty Perch starting at 6 p.m. Community members are welcome to attend.

SIGN-UP NOW: Bar Olympics, Happy Daaze Bar and Grill, 1 p.m., cost $40 per two-person team, best of three double eliminations; one game of dart, pool, bag toss—gold, silver, and bronze places with 100% payout.

STATE SEN. JOAN BALLWEG: Sen. Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) has been appointed as Co-Chair for the Children, Families and Human Services Committee commissioned by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). Ballweg will co-chair NCSL’s committee on Children, Families, and Human Services with Oregon State Rep. Lisa Reynolds (D). Her appointment to the national committee is for a two-year term. Throughout her time on the committee, Ballweg will have the opportunity to participate in NSCL events, serve as a speaker or moderator for committee proceedings, connect with other legislators from across the nation, and share information about policies implemented in Wisconsin.
