Exciting I-S community events lined up for this week

The Iola and Scandinavia communities are gearing up for a week filled with events that promise to bring residents together for fun, entertainment, and community engagement.

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and take part in these exciting events that showcase the vibrant community spirit of Iola and Scandinavia.

September 25

The week kicks off with the Iola Town Board Meeting scheduled for Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place at the town hall and is an excellent opportunity for residents to stay informed about local government affairs and voice their concerns.

September 26

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola will host the “Mission Quilt” event from 8-11 a.m. This gathering offers a chance to support charitable causes while socializing with fellow community members.

The Scandinavia Public Library will also be abuzz with activity on the same day. At 3 p.m., a library meeting will take place, followed by a book discussion and Fika session at 4 p.m., featuring “The Family of Chao” by Lan Samantha Chang. Literature enthusiasts won’t want to miss this engaging discussion.

Later in the evening at 5 p.m., the Iola Recycling Center Annual Meeting will be held at the Iola Village Hall, offering an opportunity for residents to learn more about recycling efforts in their community.

For young sports enthusiasts, the Iola-Scandinavia Recreation Association has organized flag football for kids in grades 4k-3rd. The action begins at 5:30 p.m. at Thunderbird Field in Scandinavia.

Meanwhile, Scandinavia Lutheran Church will host “Men & Ministry” at 6:30 p.m., providing a supportive and spiritual space for men in the community.

For sports fans, the Iola-Scandinavia High School Varsity Volleyball team will go head-to-head against Weyauwega-Fremont at 7 p.m.

September 27

Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their little ones to the Iola Village Library for Preschool Storytime at 10 a.m.

The Center For Living Well offers a unique opportunity for those interested in the metaphysical. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the “Dawn Table” event, featuring a medium, shaman, psychic, and healer, will take place. Appointments can be made by texting 715-340-2136.

Spiritual seekers can join the Prayer Ministry session at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Cribbage enthusiasts will gather at Silver Lake Lanes for a league match at the same time.

For young members of the congregation, Confirmation Class at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church starts at 3:30 p.m.

In the evening, those who enjoy the outdoors can participate in “Kayak Pope Lake” at 5 p.m., and the second Confirmation session at Scandinavia Lutheran Church starts at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, “Spark,” an event at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, will commence at 5:30 p.m.

September 28

The week continues with Community Coffee at the Scandinavia Municipal Center from 8-10:30 a.m., providing an informal setting for community members to connect.

Crafting enthusiasts can join the Crafting Bee at the Scandinavia Public Library at 10 a.m.

For sports fans, the Iola-Scandinavia High School Cross Country team will compete at the Rosholt Invitational at 4 p.m.

Flag football for kids in grades 4k-3rd continues at Thunderbird Field in Scandinavia at 5:30 p.m.

In the evening at 6 p.m., Fresh Hope, an event at Scandinavia Lutheran Church, offers support and encouragement.

September 29

Choir practice at Scandinavia Lutheran Church begins at 10 a.m., inviting community members to participate in musical endeavors.

At the Iola Village Library, from 2-4 p.m., “Sit-n-Stich” welcomes those interested in sewing and crafting.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the Iola-Scandinavia High School Varsity Football team hosting Rosholt at 7 p.m. in a Homecoming game.

For music lovers, “Daddio” will be playing jazz music at Odin & Freja’s Place starting at 7:30 p.m.

September 30

The week concludes with exciting weekend activities, including I-S Pee Wee Athletics at Thunderbird Field, with matches starting at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively.

“Oktoberfest” at The Mills starting at 4 p.m. promises a festive atmosphere and delicious food.

For those who love live music, “Road Ravens,” a rock music performance, will take place at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7:30 p.m.

The much-anticipated Homecoming Dance will take place at Iola-Scandinavia High School from 8-11 p.m.
