Rumor has it we might be in for an early spring this year, which has us thinking about flood insurance.
The DNR and the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance want to know: Are you covered?
If not, you may want to think about it. Most homeowners’ policies do not cover floods, and 40 percent of flood damage claims come from properties outside of a mapped floodplain.
Once you do have flood insurance, it takes 30 days for a new National Flood Insurance Program Policy to go into effect.
This all means that if you’re thinking of getting flood insurance, now is the time, ahead of those spring showers we know are coming.
