Diane Marie Goll, a vibrant and cherished individual, passed away on Dec. 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fond memories.
Born on April 12, 1950, in Iola, Wisconsin, Diane lived a life filled with joy, adventure, and compassion. Diane’s journey began in her beloved hometown of Iola, where she was raised alongside her sisters, the late Judith Dobrez and Barbara (Kenneth) Whitford.
Diane embraced her passion for crafts and creativity, often delighting her nieces and nephews with her homemade cards and inventive projects. She had an eye for beauty and found solace in gardening and caring for her plants, creating stunning landscapes of vibrant blooms and lush greenery. At one time in her 30s, she even assisted as a doula for elephants at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Professionally, Diane worked for nearly 40 years at Briggs & Stratton.
Travel was another significant aspect of Diane’s younger life. She possessed an insatiable wanderlust that led her to explore the far corners of the globe. From the bustling streets of Hong Kong and the tranquil landscapes of New Zealand to the ancient wonders of Europe and the vibrant cultures of Asia, Diane broadened her horizons and enriched her soul through her diverse experiences. Her sense of adventure and curiosity knew no bounds, and she embraced the opportunity to immerse herself in different cultures and cuisines.
Diane’s deep affection for family was palpable. She embraced her role as a second mother to her beloved nieces and nephews, Jeff (the late Jenny Carnegie) Orr, Carrie (Frederick) Renner, Jason Orr, Chad (Courtney) Orr, providing guidance, support, and unconditional love. She spent many special days with her aunt the late Virginia Wiesendanger, as well as many great conversations with her cousin Ricky. Diane shared countless cherished moments with her great-nieces and great-nephews as well, spoiling them with her warm heart and endless generosity, becoming their second grandma.
Animals held a special place in Diane’s heart. She adored their company and found comfort and companionship in their presence, even spoiling her family’s pets.
As we come together to celebrate Diane’s extraordinary life, we remember her infectious laughter and her hilarious sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her zest for life was contagious, and she instilled a sense of joy in all who crossed her path. She lived her life unapologetically as herself and encouraged her loved ones to do the same.
Diane’s family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date, they will notify family and friends when plans are finalized.
