David L. “Dave” Longman

March 31, 1947 – February 15, 2022

David L. “Dave” Longman, 74, formerly of Janesville, died at his home north of Iola, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Feb. 15, 2022.

David Leslie Longman was born on March 31, 1947, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Leslie C. and Beulah E. (Larson) Longman. Dave grew up on a farm east of Janesville outside of Johnstown. He graduated from Milton High School in 1965.

Dave married Rebecca “Becky” Wheelan on Feb. 16, 1977, whom he is survived by.

Dave enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was an avid Packers fan. He played bluegrass music with friends for most of his life. He loved being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his many friendships. He will be greatly missed.

Dave is survived by his wife Becky of 44 years; children Steve Johnson of Iola, Michael (Carolyn) Longman of West Richland, Washington, Amy (Randy) Schultz of North Liberty, Iowa, Brett (Tammy) Longman of Iola; and sister Lin Howard of Shopiere. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alaina, Paiton, Tyler, Tricia, Zeke, Jordan, Aaron, Adam, Brianna, Austyn, Cadence and Clayton.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Gary Howard, and grandson Andrew Schultz. 

Per David’s wishes, a simple cremation will take place and there will be no funeral services. Burial of his remains will take place at Emerald Grove Cemetery in Emerald Grove, Wisconsin, at a later date along with a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
