Catherine “Katie/Kate” Isabell Olson
February 13, 1926 – February 10, 2022
Catherine Isabell Olson “Katie/Kate” 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday Feb. 10, 2022, just three days before her 96th birthday.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1926, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to the late Frederick and Susanna (Waters) Olson. By the age of 3, the family had moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Katie was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community.
Katie graduated from Milwaukee Tech High School, Class of 1944.
She worked at St Joseph Hospital, before starting her career at SB in Milwaukee, a manufacturing company, retiring after 35 years in 1989.
She enjoyed retirement on Hatch Lake in Iola, Wisconsin. She was thankful for her lake family.
Kate moved to Wrightstown, Wisconsin, and then Green Bay Area to be closer to family.
Katie had a contagious smile and laugh, her heart was always open, she enjoyed getting to know everyone around her. Once you’ve been introduced you were on a fast track to becoming lifelong friends. If you ever received a card from her, you knew how much she loved and cared about how you were.
Having no children of her own, she was blessed to be a sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother to numerous families, because you don’t have to be related to be family.
Kate kept out of trouble by knitting mittens and donating them to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. She volunteered for the Iola Share Program, she enjoyed giving of her time and assistance at the Iola Senior home along with other events in Iola area during her retirement.
She was a Eucharistic Minister at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, for many years. St. Clare of Wrightstown became her second church family. Katie’s faith kept her strong.
Katie is survived by her sister Genevieve Bell of Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her sisters Luella Manning, Caroline Streich, Marie Timmer, and Beverly Dankert; her brothers Chuck Olson, Frank Olson, and Freddie Olson.
Kate’s family and friends may call at St. Clare Catholic Church 437 Main Street, Wrightstown on Friday, Feb. 18, after 9:30 a.m. and until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Carl Meulemans officiating and Deacon Ken Kabat assisting.
Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere, Wisconsin, is assisting the Family.
Special Thank you to the Unity Hospice Team, St Clare and St Mary Magdalen Parishes and the Woodside Haven Community families.
