Carvel “Cubby” Monroe Voie

Carvel “Cubby” Monroe Voie, age 93 of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday Sept. 29, 2022.
He was born at home, on Smokey Valley Road, Township of Scandinavia, to the late Chester and Anna (Bobbe) Voie.
He married on Dec. 22, 1951, to Betty L Balthazor at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church. Following the wedding service, they received guest at the Old Opera House in Amherst, Wisconsin, which was the very last reception held there. They were married for 69 years.
Cubby served in the United States Army during the Korean war, he was stationed in Florida and Alaska. Alaska was not a State at the time, so he received overseas duty pay. He served in the Army National Guards.
Cubby was an active member of the Scandinavia Volunteer Fire Department, which he served on for many years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing with family and friends over the years.
He took over the family farm after the passing of his father, Chester Voie, which has been in the family for 175 years. He was a truck driver for many years, hauling milk for Consolidated Badger Co-operative, worked for Deutshe in Waupaca, and Mercury Marine out of Fond du Lac. Cubby also drove the school bus for the Iola-Scandinavia school system.
Cubby and Betty would attend many a polka dance and would travel to Minnesota for Polka days with friends. He loved to joke and share a good laugh, sometimes to the point that you couldn’t get a straight answer out of him – which drove Betty nuts.
Cubby is survived by his children Karen Voie, Darrell (Wendy Campos) Voie, Lynda (David) Jameson; grandchildren Kyle (Amanda) Brown, Kjerist (Ingrid) Simpson, Ramona, (Nick) Reisdorf, Avery Kirk, Emily Voie, Seth Voie, Sadie (Bob) Zill; great-grandchildren Garrett, Natalie Warren Brown, Grace Simpson, Rinley, Everett Reisdorf, Layla Zill; and foster children Jerry and David Goldsmith.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; parents Chester and Anna Voie; infant granddaughter Kallie Voie; sister Donna Skowen; brother-in-law Elmore Skowen; sisters-in-law Verna and Eleanor Balthazor; and brother-in-law Danny Bayevich.
