Carol Sue (Lange) Schultz obituary

Carol Sue (Lange) Schultz

July 22, 1928 – March 7, 2022

Carol Sue Schultz (93) of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s (Mary Jo (Jack) Lashua) home in Iola, Wisconsin, on March 7, 2022.

Carol was born July 22, 1928 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to Leila (Rhadans) and Rudolph Lange.

She graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator.

She met the love of her life, William (Bill) Schultz at a dance in 1948 and they were married on Oct. 1, 1949. Carol and Bill had seven children together and in 1975 they moved to Boulder Junction to be closer to Bill’s work as a developer and builder of Natural Lakes Private Preserve.

After raising seven children, Carol was very active in the Boulder Junction community and an active member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. For decades, you could see Carol working part-time at numerous clothing and gift shops. You may have also seen her at the Community Food Pantry volunteering in the clothing area. If anyone needed something hemmed altered or repaired, Carol could work magic with her sewing machine.

One of her most enjoyable activities was the Lions Club Reading Buddies Program with the 1st Grader’s at North Lakeland Elementary School, where she looked forward to Tuesday mornings interacting with the children. At the end of the school year, the children would make drawings for all the volunteers which she truly cherished.

Carol also loved to bake pies and blonde brownies for local organizations which included the Colorama Dinner at Camp Manitowish and many other fundraisers.

Carol enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, both in Ocononomoc and Boulder Junction. At family gatherings, cards, poker chips and cocktails went hand-in-hand.

She will be most remembered by her family for her love of nature and kindness to animals. She enjoyed feeding the wild birds in the winter and hummingbirds during the summer. Over many years, she loved daily walks with her dogs Liza, Gretchen, Rex, Nippon, and Marble. Every little animal was “precious” to her.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years William (Bill) Schultz; her eldest son and daughter-in-law Richard (Dick) and JoAnn Schultz; and sisters Marguerite Stevens, Marian Milinkovich, and Nancy Ideus.

Carol is survived by her children Frederick Schultz, David (Gayle) Schultz of Boulder Junction, Mary Jo (Jack) Lashua of Iola, Jane (Jim) Frandy of Manitowish Waters, Wisocnsin, James (Julie Cronin) of Streamwood, Illinois, and Jean (Charlie) Ruegsegger of Mount Prospect, Illinois; and her eight grandchildren, Chad (Martha) Whittaker, Todd (Megan) Schultz, Heather Gietzen, Danielle Schultz (Jameson Bothe), Robert Gerhardt, Jaime Schultz, Christian Schultz, Luke Ruegsegger; and four great-grandchildren Joseph and Charlise Gietzen, and William and Jack Schultz. She is also survived by her brother John (Maureen) Lange of Micco, Florida.

A special thank you to daughter and son-in-law Mary Jo and Jack Lashua for their dedication and wonderful care at their home with additional care and assistance by Compassus Hospice in her final days.

A celebration of Carol’s life is being planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
