Bruno as their new Early Childhood teacher at Iola Elementary School (ISES). With an impressive background and a passion for education, Erin brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Originally hailing from Grafton, Wisconsin, Erin has traversed the Badger State, calling various towns her home. She purchased her first house in Plover, then moved on to Mondovi, and eventually settled in Plainview, Minnesota. Ten years were spent in Horace, North Dakota, before Erin finally found herself in Iola.
Erin’s journey through education led her to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she honed her skills and gained the knowledge necessary to excel in her field.
Erin has been happily married for 23 years to her high school sweetheart. The couple has been blessed with two children, Phillip and Miranda. Phillip, an alumnus of Iola-Scandinavia High School, is currently pursuing his studies at North Dakota State University. Meanwhile, Miranda is preparing for her senior year at Iola.
When asked about her choice of a career in education, Erin recounted her journey from being a stay-at-home mom to becoming a preschool teacher’s assistant. Her passion for teaching bloomed as she transitioned to an elementary school, working as a Reading Intervention Para.
“Working with children is so rewarding,” Erin expressed, “and when we moved to Iola, I was very excited to apply at the elementary school.”
Her journey led her to assume the role of ELC Director last year, and she is now eagerly preparing for her inaugural year as the Early Childhood Special Ed teacher.
Beyond her dedication to education, Erin is an avid dancer, having embraced the art form since she was 3 years old. Her favorite travel destination might raise eyebrows – North Dakota – a place she cherishes for the friendships and connections she has made over the years, as well as the chance to reunite with her son, Phillip.
At home, Erin shares her life with a loyal black lab named Fargo. When it comes to sports, Erin proudly supports the Packers and the Brewers.
In the spirit of giving back, Erin volunteers her time at Heroes Harvest, a non-profit veteran organization where her husband serves as the associate director.
An interesting tidbit about Erin is that she has no cousins, a fact that sets her apart.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Iola-Scandinavia School District,” Erin shared. “When we moved back to Wisconsin from North Dakota, we chose to live in Iola, and I wanted to continue in education. I’m very happy they had an opportunity for me.”
