Betty Jo Stull
Betty Jo Stull, 87, of Clintonville, Wisconsin, formerly of Iola, Wisconsin, entered into eternal life on June 12, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born to Crusoe and Ella Baker in Typo, Kentucky, and was fourth of eight children. She married Walter Stull on September 5, 1952, and together they had five children.
Betty was an avid cook and fondly looked back on her years of owning Gator’s restaurant in Iola along with Betty’s Bay restaurant in Marinette, Wisconsin. Teaching her children and grandchildren how to cook was a life’s joy for her as nothing was ever exactly measured, and sprinkles, dashes, and shakes were the name of the game. Whenever family visited she insisted on cooking for them, and whenever a gathering was on the schedule, she was the first to offer to bring a dish to share.
In addition to cooking, she was a voracious reader who spent many years reading whatever novel she could get her hands on. In her most recent years, she loved watching news channels and the weather channel to pass the time. She also loved gardening and found great joy in canning her harvest to be enjoyed throughout the year.
Betty had her own way of loving her family and took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, calling each of them during their infant and toddler years, “my baby.” As someone who rarely held her opinion in, she will be remembered for her sharp wit and her honest feedback.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Crusoe and Ella; her husband Walter E. Stull; her son Vernon Stull; and her son-in-law Louie Salas. She is survived by children: Terry Stull (Paulette) of Indianapolis, Iindiana; Greg Stull (Ann) of Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina; Kathy Salas of Portage, Indiana; Wayne Stull of Clintonville, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Deb Stull of Calhoun, Georgia, along with 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Betty’s family would like to extend many thanks to the doctors and nurses of ThedaCare, Neenah, Wisconsin, and the ThedaCare Home Hospice team for their gracious care over the last weeks of Betty’s life.
An interment ceremony will be held at Iola Riverside Community Cemetery on Tuesday, June 15, at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends from the community are welcome to attend.
