
Betty Gene Jones
January 27, 1946 – June 6, 2025
Betty Gene Jones, 79 of Iola, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025.
She was born January 27, 1946, to Marvin (Sonny) and Lorraine Whitney. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1964.
On November 7, 1964, she married Jack Jones. Together, they had five children: Tami (Scott) Fahser, Teresa (Doug) Nelson, Carla (Brian) Jaeger, Cheryl (Dominic) Charles, and Jack Jones (Hannah Heldt).
Betty was a school bus driver for the Iola-Scandinavia school system for over 40 years. She loved her bus kids and was known to celebrate the holidays with costumes and special earrings. In addition to her route, Betty loved taking any sport or event trips, especially to watch her children or grandchildren participate.
Betty and Jack owned BJ’s Schmitt’s Corner for several years. They were known for their delicious pizzas.
Betty also loved her trips to Florida to break up some of the long winter days. She loved her Brewers, Packers, Badgers and wrestling, along with crocheting, and collecting gnomes.
Betty’s biggest joy was her family. She was very proud of each of them and loved celebrating any/all of their successes. She left her family with joy, determination, strength, and love.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Desirae (Alex); Leighton and Brynn; Joshua (Cindy) Carlie and Cole; Mason; Ashley (Aaron) Aleea, Archer, Axl; Ethan (Taylor) Brinley and Bryer; Elizabeth, Georgia; Erin (Ben); Elle; Jaxon, Lola and Jayden.
Her brothers are Marv (Judie) Whitney and Jim Whitney; in-laws, Russel Schultz, Gary (Peg) Jones, Bob (Stacy) Jones, Allen (Donna) Jones, and Kathy (Les) Baehman; special friend, Sharon (Gordy) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Marvin and Lorraine; in-laws, Paul and Ruth Jones; sisters, Karen Schultz and LuAnn Whitney; sisters-in-law, Linda Whitney and Judy Jones; son-in-law, Joseph Melum; grandsons: Zachary Fahser and Dylan Nelson.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Friday, June 13, from 4-7 p.m. at the Voie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
