Ben Beck leads Iola-Scandinavia at Rosholt Invite

The Iola-Scandinavia cross-country team put up a strong performance at the Rosholt High School Invite on Oct. 3, with standout efforts in both boys’ and girls’ divisions. The meet, featuring a variety of teams from the region, saw solid performances across all age groups, with senior Ben Beck leading the charge.

Boys’ Varsity

In the boys’ varsity race, Ben Beck stole the show with a commanding performance, finishing the course in a time of 16:00.30. His effort was not only the fastest for Iola-Scandinavia but also a standout achievement among all competitors at the event. Beck’s brother, Jack Beck, followed with a respectable time of 17:13.27, placing well within the top ranks. Henry Vater also put in a strong run, completing the course in 17:36.70.

The boys’ varsity squad rounded out with Evan Linjer (18:23.47), Brycen Jorgensen (21:24.47), and Zavier Shelley (22:31.39).

Girls’ Varsity

On the girls’ side, Cedarlyn Otremba and Revyn Schrank provided a thrilling finish, crossing the line within a second of each other. Otremba completed the course in 22:36.27, followed closely by Schrank with a time of 22:37.18. Their close finish demonstrated the team’s competitive spirit and determination.

Paige Timdal wasn’t far behind, clocking in at 22:49.83, contributing to a well-rounded team performance. Grace Betker (23:27.28), Ari Hahn (24:10.70), and Ruby Koch (24:31.49) all ran solid races, helping the girls’ varsity team finish strong in the standings.

Girls’ Junior Varsity

In the girls’ junior varsity race, Lydia Jones battled through a long course, finishing with a time of 36:53.97.

Middle School Standouts

The boys’ and girls’ middle school divisions featured strong up-and-coming talent for Iola-Scandinavia. In the boys’ middle school race, Parker Poehlman and John Mork were neck-and-neck at the finish, posting times of 12:34.88 and 12:34.97, respectively. The duo led their team, with Daniel Burns (14:01.55), Ethan Brown (16:07.61), and Nikkoli Dominguez (16:56.55) rounding out the middle school boys’ results.

On the girls’ middle school side, Nola Mae Vater had a strong showing, crossing the line in 13:22.93, followed by Lola Jones (14:23.89) and Ellaina Bestul (15:21.97). Lucy Bertsch (16:46.16) also ran a determined race, helping the girls’ middle school team compete well.
