MADISON, Wis. — A bright highlight at the end of challenging school year, an impressive 183 student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin spring and at-large sports teams were named to the 2020-21 Academic All-Big Ten team.
For Women’s Track & Field, Iola’s Jada Beacom, a Health Promotion & Healthy Equity and Communications Arts major, was among the 183 athletes named. The Badgers’ track and field teams saw 27 honorees for the women’s program and 19 for the men’s program.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports, have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Women’s rowing led the list with 42 honorees, while men’s rowing had 33 recipients and women’s lightweight rowing added nine. Softball saw nine student-athletes earn academic honors. In golf, the UW men earned eight honors and the women’s program earned seven honors, while in tennis, the UW men earned seven honors and the women earned eight recognitions. Among at-large sports in the conference, women’s hockey saw 14 Badgers earn spots on the academic honor team.
The Big Ten Conference recognized a total of 2,445 students on spring and at-large sports rosters who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team.
