Barbara A. Sheets

March 9, 1938–February 11, 2026

Barbara A. Sheets of Iola, Wisconsin, formerly of Batavia, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Barb was born in Elgin, Illinois, to Gert and Wally Hein on March 9, 1938.

Barb married her life-long partner, Robert Sheet,s on Aug. 12, 1961, and raised three daughters in Batavia.

She enjoyed being on the PTO at her daughter’s school and was a room mother at their schools for many years. She loved having kids and friends over to her house as a stay-at-home Mom. She enjoyed being a lunch lady at the Batavia Middle School for many years. She had many hobbies like writing her cards and letters to friends and family, gardening, cooking, baking, and taking care of her family and friends. She loved visiting with friends and family, traveling with her husband and their yearly trips to Canada on their fishing trips, taking vacation trips with her family and spending time in her yard and at her lake property.

Barb is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert L. Sheets; daughters, Sherrie (Shawn) Nollenberg, Shelli (Joe) Petrosa, and Shana (Dan) Mortenson, all of Ogdensburg, Wisconsin; grandchildren, David (Taylor) Mortenson of Iola, Dale Mortenson of Ogdensburg, Anthony Petrosa of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Aleah Petrosa of Iola; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Avery. Also, sister-in-law, Judy Hein of Waupaca; brother-in-law, Paul Sheets of Ogdensburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bary Hein, aunts, uncles, and nephews.

We would like to thank the staff at Bethany Home in Waupaca, The Willows facility of Iola, and St. Croix Hospice for the love, care, and support she received over the past few months. She will be missed so much by so many people.

A visitation celebrating Barb’s life will be held at Voie Funeral Home in Iola on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 3-6 pm.
