October 2
In a bustling schedule for Oct. 2, the Center For Living Well will kick off the day at 9 a.m. with an invigorating yoga session. Following this, at 9:30 a.m., the SLCW Board meeting takes place.
As the day progresses, the local sports scene comes alive with the JV Football team hosting Wautoma at 5 p.m. Later in the evening, the Scandinavia Memorial Park will be the gathering spot for the Scandinavia Booster Club meeting at 6 p.m., followed by the Norske Needlers meeting at Iola Village Hall at 6 p.m.
The community spirit doesn’t wane as the evening progresses. At 6:30 p.m., Scandinavia Lutheran Church becomes the venue for a 4-H meeting, fostering learning and camaraderie. The day concludes with the Helvetia Town Board meeting at the town hall, beginning at 7 p.m.
October 3
Iola-Scandinavia High School will be bustling with activity as Public Service Day takes center stage. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola will host the Mission Quilt event from 8-11 a.m., a testament to the community’s dedication to service.
In the afternoon, Scandinavia Lutheran Church the Patience Circle meeting will be held at 2 p.m.
Sports enthusiasts can catch the Iola-Scandinavia Middle School Football team hosting Amherst at 5 p.m. Also at 5 p.m., the Middle School Volleyball team will be playing at Bonduel, and the High School JV2, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams will compete at Shiocton at 5:45 p.m.
October 4
The day starts with a peaceful Tai Chi session at the Center For Living Well at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will host its annual Salad Luncheon, offering a moment for the community to come together enjoy one another and contribute to the church’s fundraiser.
The afternoon sees the Cribbage League at Silver Lake Lanes at 1 p.m. Simultaneously, the Scandinavia Lutheran Church will host events, including the Prayer Ministry at 1 p.m. and later the Confirmation Class at 5:30 p.m.
October 5
As the week progresses, the community coffee at the Scandinavia Municipal Center from 8-10:30 a.m. on October 5 will provide a perfect opportunity for neighbors to connect. The Scandinavia Public Library will host a Crafting Bee at 10 a.m., followed by Bridge at the Iola Village Hall Community Room at 1 p.m.
Sports enthusiasts can catch Flag football for 4k-3RD grades at Thunderbird Field in Scandinavia at 5:30 p.m. Simultaneously, the Iola-Scandinavia High School teams will be in action with Middle School and Varsity Cross Country at Weyauwega-Fremont Invitational at 4:15 p.m. and Girls Volleyball at Shiocton at 4:15 p.m. The High School JV2, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams will also be in action, hosting St. Mary Catholic at 5:45 p.m.
To conclude the day, Fresh Hope will gather at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 6 p.m.
October 6
As the weekend approaches, the day starts on a harmonious note with the choir practice at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. In the evening, the Iola-Scandinavia High School Varsity Football team will showcase their skills on the field, facing Pacelli at 7 p.m.
October 7
The weekend is packed with diverse events. Nature enthusiasts can participate in the Ice Age Trail Hike-A-Thon, organized by the Iola Winter Sports Club at 8:30 a.m. for a nominal cost. Meanwhile, the Taste of Norway & Lost Arts Fair at the Iola Historical Society campus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. promises a cultural and culinary journey.
As the day winds down, the Iola Fire & Ambulance Fall Festival, co-sponsored by the I-S Chamber of Commerce, will unfold at the firehouse from 3-7 p.m.
October 8
The week concludes on a luxurious note with Kommuna Lux performing at Iola Mills at 6 p.m.
