Anita H. Peterson
November 10, 1930 – February 23, 2025

Anita H. Peterson, 94, of Amherst Junction, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1930, in Iola, Wisconsin, to the late Johnnie and Cora (Thoe) Aasen. Anita married Everett Peterson on Oct. 22, 1949, at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2018.
Anita graduated from Iola High School in 1948.
She was employed at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, for 40 years.
She was a very active member of the Nelsonville Lutheran Church-serving in many capacities: church council, choir, ladies aid, Thrivent representative, and teaching Sunday school. Anita served as an officer of the Sons of Norway Norskeland Lodge of Iola. She enjoyed volunteering at the Iola Old Car Show. Anita also enjoyed her family and taking trips with friends. She enjoyed quilting, baking and especially cooking holiday meals for her family.
Anita is survived by sons, Jeffrey Peterson, Steve (Donna) Peterson, and Daniel (Becky) Peterson; six grandchildren, Mike, Samantha (Adam), Chris (Jessica), Matt (Chiya), Josh (Amber), and Eric (Amanda); along with 10-great grandchildren, Austin, Brayden, Malachi, Ayden, Alexis, Harley, Blake, Hunter, Madison, and Alyssa.
She was preceded in death by his husband Everett; sons, Michael Peterson and Les Peterson; brothers, Allen, Orin, Russell, Milton, and Clifford; and sisters, Jeanette Aasen and Mildred Conrad.
A Memorial Service for Anita will be held at the Nelsonville Lutheran Church, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, with Rev. Dwight Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday March 6 from 9-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the spring at Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery in the Township of New Hope, Portage County, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Nelsonville Lutheran Church in memory of Anita.
