The community of Iola-Scandinavia is invited to celebrate Flag Day with a slice of something special. On Saturday, June 14, the Sheveland-Taylor American Legion Post 14 will host its annual “Pie in the Park” fundraiser at the American Legion Veterans Memorial in Iola.

The event will run from 1-4 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of homemade pies prepared and donated by the Crystal Café’s Jennifer Schustek, Judy Bolier, and Sadie Schustek. Guests can look forward to favorites like blueberry, cherry, rhubarb, rhubarb crisp, and an assortment of cream pies.

Thanks to the Crystal Café’s donation of all pies, 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the mission and operations of Post 14. The ingredients highlight the local flavor of the community, with blueberries from Mak’s Blueberries and rhubarb provided by friends and neighbors from around town.

“Pie in the Park” offers a delicious way to support local veterans while enjoying a relaxed afternoon in a meaningful setting.
