Alta B. Sannes

December 30, 1924 – January 8, 2022

Alta B. Sannes, age 97, of Iola, formerly of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1924, in the Town of Buena Vista, Portage County, Wisconsin, to the late Benjamin and Selma (Schmidt) Boelter.

On May 6, 1950, she married Norman Sannes in Amherst. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2009.

Whenever family and friends would stop by, Alta always managed to have delicious homecooked food and fresh cookies, cakes and pies. No one ever left hungry when visiting … and were always encouraged to eat. She had a magnetic persona for children who were drawn to her genuine love and compassion. She had a flare for design, which was evident in her home décor and fashion. Alta was a classy lady right to end of her life.

Her talents also included sewing and clothing alterations and also worked at the Feminine Touch clothing store for many years.

Alta enjoyed helping others and volunteered several years at the Iola Nursing Home. Serving others always brought her joy. She will be dearly missed by her children, their families, extended relatives and friends. The memories we all hold dear will remain with us until we gather for that great family reunion in Heaven.

Alta is survived by her children: Barbara (Bill) Lashua of Harshaw, Wisconsin, Scott (Geri) Sannes of Scandinavia, Ginger Sannes of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Sally (Wade) Bertram of Waupaca; 10 grandchildren: Dean (Dawn) Lashua, Sarah (Jeff) Heschke, Melissa Sannes, Kevin (Bobbie) Sannes, Rachel (Brian) Mefferd, Ryan (Kathy) Olson, Jordan (Jessica) Olson, Jeffrey Olson, Jessica Bertram, Stephanie (Casey) Martinez; along with 17 great-grandchildren: Holly, Carson, Josie, Myah, Maci, Jameson, Finn, Malia, Elyn, Audrina, Aralyn, Oliver, Allison, Levi, Michael, Logan and Melanie.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Chad Lashua, sisters Frieda Bobbe and Leona Toftum, and brothers Lester Boelter and Arlyn Boelter.

Funeral Service will be held on 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan.14 at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola with Rev. Dale Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place following the service in the Bickel Cemetery in Town of Amherst, Portage County, Wisconsin.
