Follow it up with a serene Yoga session at the Center For Living Well at 9 a.m. Alternatively, engage in Water Therapy at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center, also at 9 a.m., for a refreshing start. Later in the day, enhance your fitness routine with the bARRe class at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 5 p.m.
January 30
This day, the community has diverse activities to participate in. Early birds can join the Quilting session at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 8 a.m. For fitness enthusiasts, there’s Water Aerobics at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 9 a.m., followed by the Strong Bones class at 10:30 a.m. The Iola Village Library invites everyone for Tuesday Board Games at 3:30 p.m., and fitness enthusiasts can enjoy Pound at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 5 p.m., followed by Deep Water Aerobics at 5:30 p.m.
January 31

In the evening, there’s something for everyone – Boot Camp at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 4 p.m., Community Ski Night at Iola Winter Sports Club from 5-8 p.m., and an informative session on Financial Aid for Iola-Scandinavia High School Seniors at 5:30 p.m. Wrap up the day with Bluegrass Music at Northland Sports Bar & Grill at 7 p.m.
February 1
February starts with a warm Community Coffee at Scandinavia Municipal Center at 8 a.m. Crafters can head to Scandinavia Public Library for the Crafting Bee at 10 a.m. The Hellestad Circle at Scandinavia Lutheran Church gathers at 1 p.m., and Silver Lake Lanes hosts a Cribbage Tournament at the same time. Bridge enthusiasts can join the game at Iola Village Hall, Community Room, at 1 p.m.
In the evening, catch the Iola-Scandinavia Middle School Girls Basketball game at 5:15 p.m. The Fresh Hope meeting convenes at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. For those who enjoy Open Mic Nights, Odin & Freja’s Place has one scheduled at 7 p.m.
February 2
Join the Friendly Friday gathering at Iola Village Library on February 2. Sports enthusiasts can catch the Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2 Girls Basketball at I-S Fitness and Aquatic Center at 5:45 p.m., and the JV/Varsity Girls Basketball at 5:45 p.m. Meanwhile, the JV2/JV/Varsity Boys Basketball team plays at Weyauwega-Fremont at 5:45 p.m.
In the evening, the 9th Annual Iola Snow Bully Fat Tire Race has been cancelled. If you’re into pool, Northland Sports Bar & Grill hosts a Pool Singles Tournament at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., enjoy live music with Bomber & Red at Odin & Freja’s Place.
February 3
Skogtroll Returns at Odin & Freja’s Place at 3 p.m. Later in the evening, groove to the tunes of Galynne Goodwill at Happy Daaze Bar & Grill at 9 p.m.
Iola Winter Carnival February 3-4
The weekend of Feb. 3-4, the Iola-Scandinavia area is buzzing with excitement as the annual Iola Winter Carnival takes center stage. On Feb. 3, the day kicks off with an Ice Sculpting Contest at Chet Krause Legacy Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., showcasing the talents of local artists. Families can then head to Lake Iola for the Children’s Ice Fishing Contest, running from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing a delightful winter activity for the younger ones. Meanwhile, the Iola Winter Sports Club hosts a Kids Ski Race has been cancelled. For those with a taste for chili, embark on the Chili Walk starting at noon at various locations, including 10LA Corner Bar, The Mill, Thirsty Perch, Crystal Café, and Mark McCoy’s Flat Racker Tap. The winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m. at Thirsty Perch. The thrilling Skijoring Competition at the Iola Winter Sports Club and a Glow Light Walk have been cancelled.
