Here’s a wrap up of activities in Iola-Scandinavia from the week of Dec. 31-Jan. 6.
December 31
In a festive start to the last day of the year, Redeemer Lutheran Church will host a New Year’s Eve Service at 10 a.m. Later in the afternoon, the community is invited to celebrate Norwegian New Year’s Eve at Odin & Freja’s Place from 2-6 p.m. For those seeking entertainment and a lively atmosphere, Silver Lake Lanes will offer DJ Joey Miller entertainment and 8-Pin Tap bowling at $20/person starting from 8 p.m.
January 1
Embrace the outdoors on New Year’s Day with the Annual First Day Hike along the Ice Age Trail at Iola Winter Sports Club, beginning at 1 p.m.
January 2
Start the year with health in mind as I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center hosts the Strong Bones class at 10:30 a.m., followed by Water Aerobics at 9 a.m. Later in the day, Scandinavia Lutheran Church will hold the Patience Circle at 2 p.m., and I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center will offer Pound at 5 p.m., followed by Deep Water Aerobics at 5:30 p.m. The day concludes with the Helvetia Township Board meeting at the town hall at 7 p.m.
January 3
Get your day off to an active start with the Strong Bones class at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 8 a.m., followed by Water Aerobics at 9 a.m. The Iola Village Library will host Pre-School Storytime at 10 a.m., Scandinavia Lutheran Church will hold Prayer Ministry at 1 p.m., and I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center will offer Boot Camp at 4 p.m.
Sports enthusiasts can catch the Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2 Girls Basketball hosting Marathon at 5:30 p.m., followed by the JV & Varsity Girls Basketball hosting Marathon at 5:30 p.m. as well. Additionally, the Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2, JV & Varsity Boys Basketball will be playing at Shiocton at 5:45 p.m.
For a relaxing evening, enjoy Bluegrass Music at Northland Sports Bar & Grill at 7 p.m.
January 4
Connect with the community at the Scandinavia Municipal Center for Community Coffee at 8 a.m. The day continues with Water Aerobics at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 9 a.m., a Crafting Bee at Scandinavia Public Library at 10 a.m., and Strong Bones class at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 10:30 a.m.
Other activities include Bridge at Iola Village Hall at 1 p.m., Hellestad Circle at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 1 p.m., and a Cribbage Tournament at Silver Lake Lanes at 1 p.m.
The evening holds basketball action with Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2, JV & Varsity Girls Basketball playing at Weyauwega-Fremont at 5:45 p.m., and Fresh Hope at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. Unwind with Open Mic at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7 p.m.
January 5
Kick off the day with Choir at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 10 a.m., followed by Sit-n-Stitch at Iola Village Library at 2 p.m. Sports enthusiasts can catch Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2 Boys Basketball hosting Weyauwega-Fremont at the Fitness & Aquatic Center at 5:45 p.m., and the JV & Varsity Boys Basketball hosting Weyauwega-Fremont at 5:45 p.m. For those seeking some friendly competition, Northland Sports Bar & Grill will host a Pool Singles Tournament at 6 p.m. Additionally, enjoy live music with Rich Travis with Dusty Pockets at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7:30 p.m.
January 6
For those looking to start the day with a swim, the I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center will have an Adult Swim from 9:30-11 a.m.
