The Rotary Club of Waupaca presented checks totaling $3,000 to local school districts for the purchase of sanitizer, masks and other items that will help keep teachers and students safe during in-person instruction.

The club supplemented funds received through a Rotary District grant, enabling grant awards of $1,740 to Waupaca, $720 to Weyauwega-Fremont, and $540 to Iola-Scandinavia schools. Amounts were based on student enrollment.

“These grants are a great example of how our club fulfills its education-focused mission,” said Trey Foerster, the Club’s president. “Even though the pandemic has forced us to cancel major fundraisers like Oktoberfest, we’re continuing to look for ways to support our schools and our community overall.”

Ron Saari, a Rotarian and District Administrator for the School District of Waupaca shared: “The community has been incredibly supportive of our teachers, staff, and students during these crazy times. This grant is yet another example of the many ways people and organizations have stepped up to help, and we’re very grateful for it.”
